(Biblical Christianity and the Christian life)
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 NKJV)
If the devil can't eradicate Christianity ( and he can't according to Matrhew 16:18), he will try to dilute it. He may even try to confuse people on what Christianity is all about.
Following are what we could call the normal and biblical Christianity and what it means to be a Christian or a follower of Christ in view of God's word:
The Christian life is not a religion or just having or joining a religion or group. It is about having a RELATIONSHIP with God through Jesus Christ (John 1:12). Our Lord Jesus came to give us life with a glorious purpose, not rituals and religion (John 10:10). He came to bring salvation, healing, restoration and eternal life because of God's great love for us (Psalm 23).
The Christian life is not meant to be lived out in an isolated way but with the community of God's "called out people" - the church (Ephesians 2:19; Hebrews 10:25).
The Christian life is not just a status or a statement but a SPIRITUAL CALLING from God that we need to continually respond to (1 Peter 2:9; Ephesians 4:1-16). It is not something static like a one time thing experience. It is a daily commitment to follow Christ. It involves growing in spiritual maturity, enjoying and experiencing God's blessings and wonderful promises, fulfilling God's calling and serving God's purposes ( Philippians 3:13-14; Jeremiah 29:11).
Biblical Christianity is not about a dead religion but about having a dynamic relationship with God. God did not call us to be a part of a DEAD RELIGION but for us to have a DYNAMIC RELATIONSHIP with Him where we continually grow in knowing Him, loving Him, serving Him, honoring Him and living according to His will and purposes more and more (Matthew 7:21).
No religion can give eternal life, only God through our Lord Jesus Christ ( John3:16; Romans 6:23). We become victorious in life when we follow Christ! (Romans 8:37).
REFLECT: Currently, how is your Christian life? Ask: "Am I living the normal Christian life?" By God's grace, what steps will I be willing to take to redirect my life toward having the kind of life God wants me to have and to do what God called me to do for His glory?
COMMITMENT: Receive Christ and commit to follow Him the rest of your lfie! He truly cares as the Shepherd of our soul.
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." (John 8:12 NKJV)
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
2 He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul;
3 He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. (Psalms 23:1-3 NKJV)
